Instructions for Letters of Recommendation

For Summit University certificate programs and courses for credit, applicants are required to have two Letters of Recommendation submitted by previous or current employers, teachers, counselors, community or group leaders, youth organization leaders or ministers from their local congregation.

  1. Invite the individuals you have selected to fill out a confidential recommendation form for you. The forms will take them no more than 10–15 minutes to complete. Be sure to ask for recommendations far enough in advance so they are received by SU about the same time that you submit your application. Applications will not be reviewed without recommendation letters.
  2. For online submissions, give each individual this link to a confidential online form: http://summituniversity.org/recommendation. They will need to include on the form your full name and email address that you will use for all SU course access and correspondence. Please give this to them when you ask for their recommendation. The completed form will be sent electronically to the SU Registrar. You will receive an email notification when it has been received. Do not request a printed copy of the form be given to you.
  3. For written submissions, download and print two copies of the Letter of Recommendation form [PDF]. Fill in your name and the email address that you will use for all SU course access and correspondence. Hand these forms to the individuals whom you have requested to submit written recommendations on your behalf. Ask each one to mail or email the completed form directly to the SU Registrar at the address on form so that it arrives about the time you submit your application. You will receive an email notification when it has been received. Do not request that the form or a copy of it to be given to you.
