MINS 2603 Foundations of Family Ministry

Credits: 1

Number of Weeks: 8

This comprehensive course prepares ministerial students to integrate family ministry holistically into church communities. Based on the foundational studies in SU’s EDUC 1233 course, you will continue to learn about innovative principles and develop practical skills for shepherding families. Through selected readings and hands-on experiences, you will be trained to serve the Christ by supporting family and community life.

You will learn how to partner with parents in applying the Cosmic Clock in nurturing their children and youth. You will also experience firsthand some of the major responsibilities of family ministry based on the home-centered concept. By participating in a family visit, conferring with a minister, developing a themed-activity for parents, and writing an ascended master story, you will garner insights as well as be equipped with useful tools. Engaging in small group forums and reflective journaling will enrich your learning. Upon the completion of the course, you will have acquired the basic skills to engage in a ministry of loving relationships and discipleship for the family of God.
